At the 2021 GAR Awards ceremony, late Professor Emmanuel Gaillard was honoured with the award for best speech or lecture for his lecture titled “Seven Dirty Tricks to Disrupt an Arbitration & the Responses of International Arbitration Law”. On the occasion of the 15th International Commercial Arbitration Annual Lecture of the Washington College of Law on 24 September 2020, Professor Gaillard described “seven dirty tricks” that parties use to disrupt arbitral proceedings and how arbitrators and courts should respond to prevent recalcitrant behaviour infecting the entire system.
